Heritage Roses for Sale in New Zealand

Our Heritage rose stock includes choice selections in all the main groups:- Bourbon, China, Damask, Gallica, Hybrid Musk, Hybrid Perpetual, Moss, Noisette, Portland, Rugosa, Tea and Species roses. We recognize the significance of the rose in the World's and indeed NZ's history. Roses first came to NZ in the early 1800's with the Christian Missionaries and early settlers. In fact the China rose known as 'Old Blush' was AKA as 'The Bishop's Rose' in New Zealand because of its wide distribution by Bishop Pompallier. Today you can still see road-side plantings of beautifully scented Gallica rose 'Anais Segales' and that vigorous old rambler 'Dorothy Perkins' is so ubiquitous it could sometimes be considered a noxious weed! Rosa eleganteria or 'The Sweet Briar' was used as a protective hedging rose along with gorse and as we know they are both so hardy they still survive throughout NZ today.Come and talk to Harry and Lloyd about your favourite Heritage Roses and add a few more to your collection. Fantin Latour

Centifolia. A chance seedling classed as a Centifolia but some say it is a modern hybrid. No matter the heritage it is a truly beautiful rose with pink quartered blooms that have a strong sweet fragrance. The blooms appear in large clusters for a long period but do not repeat thereafter. C1940.

Honorine de Brabant

Bourbon. The heritage of this rose is unknown but general consensus by rose lovers is that it is one of the nicest striped roses to be found. Delicate shades of lilac and purple on a large cupped blooms complemented by lush foliage. Few thorns, plenty of blooms and a delicious fragrance. Lovely.
